Today`s hard economic times will force small businesses to find a smarter way of promoting their products and services. One of these ways is by getting a Web site.

The statistics says that by the end of 2010 more than 60% of the small and midsize businesses will get their own web sites compared to only 33% in 2008, according to the Princeton, N.J., local search and directory research firm- Home_RepairmanKelsey Group.

Matt Booth(Kelsey Senior Vice President) said:

Websites will be viewed as a cost-effective alternative; a channel that didn’t make sense in a booming market will fast become a necessity, “. He also says that home-service businesses should pay attention to clients` reviews and home-service communities such as Angie’s List and Service Magic, because consumers will spend more time comparing notes on businesses on these sites, before placing a call.

Due to the bad economic situation, we need to think of new and innovative ways for successful marketing – and it is expected that the on-line marketing will be the best solution for the small and mid-size businesses. Including “local search” engines in the websites, like these connected to Yellow Pages or Google Maps that  returns “ local” results, when a person is searching for a certain business service in their area is worth considering. Another web marketing tool that is very helpful is pay-for performance advertising (e.g. Pay per click and affiliate ads). One great advantage of these channels is that thanks to Web analytics software the results are far more measureable, than the ads published in a local newspapers, or leaflets advertising.
