Statistics from W3School.com

This statistics show that it is very important for the web developers to optimize their website for all browsers and versions in order to allow all visitors to access the website. If your website is not optimized you will lose visitors, because they will not be able to see the website or will see it broken and they will not think how hard is to validate your code or optimize your images (especially for Internet Explorer 6) — they will just want to see the website.
How to optimize my website?
  • Ensure that the coder validates his xHTML and CSS.
  • Do not use (or reduce) the usage of images with transparent background.
Then you can test will all browsers (all of them are free and you can find them on the Internet) and check if everything looks and works properly.
Optimize your website for all browsers and keep your clients happy.
