State of the Internet – Infographics

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Everybody likes infographics, they show us interesting and even interesting information about different aspects of our lives. Today I found a very interesting one and I can`t wait to share it with all of you. Thanks to the OnlineSchools.org, we can now look at the current state of the internet.
PS: I really like it, but probably the author was not careful in Geography classes, as Bulgaria is situated on the Black Sea, not Caspian Sea.
Enjoy!

TROJAN HORSE….GREEK MYTH OR COMPUTER NEMESIS?

Friday, February 18th, 2011

We have all heard the term Trojan Horse, but what exactly is it?  A Trojan Horse is a destructive program that masquerades as a harmless application. Unlike viruses, Trojan Horses do not replicate themselves, but they can be just as destructive. One of the most dangerous examples of a Trojan is a program that promises to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses into your computer.

The Trojan can be tricky. Who hasn’t been online and had an advertisement pop up claiming to be able to rid your computer of some nasty virus?  Or, even more frightening, you receive an email that claims to be alerting you to a new virus that can threaten your computer. (more…)

WEB DESIGN ELEMENTS YOU SHOULD AVOID

Friday, February 18th, 2011

As a web designer, you should design your websites to give your visitors the greatest ease of use, the best impression and most important of all a welcoming experience. It doesn’t matter if you had the greatest product in the whole world — if your website is poorly done you won’t be able to sell even one copy of it because visitors will be driven off your website by the lousy design.

When I’m talking about a “good design”, I’m not only talking about a good graphical design. A professional web designer will be able to point out that there are many components which contribute to a good website design — accessibility design, interface or layout design, user experience design and of course the most straightforward, which is graphic design.

Hence, I have highlighted some features of the worst web designs I’ve come across. Hopefully, you will be able to compare that against your own site as a checklist and if anything on your site fits the criteria, you should know it’s high time to take serious action!

3 STEPS TO FIND“FREEBIES” TO ADD TO YOUR E-BOOK

Friday, February 18th, 2011

Those of us who regularly shop on line are familiar with the array of free gifts, free bonuses and just plain freebies that are offered to a visitor to a website to encourage them to buy. How could you collect, select and offer free gifts, which will be valued as much as the original merchandise that is being purchased, put these gifts together and add them to your E-book? There are just three steps to do that very thing. They are:

1.    Identify your key words in each chapter of your E-book. Now, type those words into your favorite search engine. You are looking for free E-books on the same subject in more depth, by a greater expert than you are, or by someone who gives a new and fresh angle to the topic. Add a link to the free E-book in each chapter of your E-book.

IS IT EASY TO CREATE OUR OWN WEBSITE? WHAT IS HTML?

Friday, February 18th, 2011

Creating a website is not so much a feat, if we compare it to the education of other technical skills. Most people tend to give up and pack their bags as soon as they hear the word “programming” and “technical”. They think it`s too much of a hassle to actually learn a whole computer “language”. HTML, the most basic computer language in building websites, is actually pretty simple to understand, as long as we have the interest in learning new things.

What is HTML?

HTML is the acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. For learning purposes, just think of it as a language that the computer understands. For example, as humans, we were taught different languages; i.e. HTML as a language, is mostly and specifically used to create a website. The web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, will then decipher and interpret the code or rather, language(HTML), and display it in a way we can understand it, just like in a basic webpage. HTML 5 – HOW THIS WILL AFFECT SEO

Monday, November 1st, 2010

HTML 5 is the next version of the “Internet Language” – HTML, which includes some semantic improvements, which, without any doubt will affect the way of Search Engine Optimisation. These are the new tags <header>, <nav>, <article>, <section>, <aside> and <footer>, which will affect the on-page SEO.

All of this is already in use by some websites, which use precursory version of HTML 5.  It is officially stated by Google that they do not use this information at that very moment, but their own algorithms. Of course one day, all this information will be taken into consideration by the Search engines.

The new tags:
HTML5 <header>
It will contain the upper part of the page with a h1 tag in it, which has to contain a proper title for that page. May be you already guessed that outbound links from this tag will be very important. (more…)
